Tower over the enemy with the monstrous Siege Machine of Doom!
General Magmar is seeking the Book of Destruction to help Jestro create even more chaos in the realm of Knighton. Charge Clay Moorington into battle on his Hover Horse to stop him, and dodge the flying Globlins. Zoom in to attack General Magmar and Flama, but watch out when the fearsome 2-in-1 machine rises off the ground and turns into a monstrous siege tower! Includes scannable shields for 3 NEXO Powers: Giant Growth, Storm Dragon and Dynamighty.
Nexo Knights has been a huge hit for LEGO, and it’s no wonder considering the playability, imagination and vibrant colour that goes into each set. The added interactive element (thanks to the Morlock 2.0 App) simply bolsters the range further and extends your play beyond the sets themselves.
The latest set we have to review; ‘General Magmar’s Siege Machine Of Doom‘, is no exception, and, if anything, is actually one of our favourite Nexo Knights sets to date. Whilst grounded firmly in the classic building bank, this set appears to boldly step more into the LEGO Technics arena, with many parts and sections of the build pulling pieces and elements from the range. There’s also a slight feel of the Bionicle range, with some larger, custom pieces like the neon wheel rims, mud guards and included sword accessories.
This use of pulling other familiar LEGO brands and elements somehow feels so right for Nexo Knights, especially considering the very basis of the range; futuristic medieval with a castle-y flavouring throughout. Those of you who are fans of Transformers will also find a home in this range – particularly this set as it can transform from a horizontal vehicle to a vertical vehicle-come-assault-tower!
Build time was a little over an hour, with the Technic elements taking the longest time to put together. Areas we found the most enjoyable to build was Clay’s Hover Horse and the central mechanism which reveals the mouth and disc shooter.
There’s so much to look at in the set, and a lot of features to be getting to grips with; for weapons, there are 2 rear catapults and the previously mentioned central disc shooter. This is in addition to other weapon elements that form part of the overall aesthetic of the build, including the wheel blades and the frontal swords. There’s a fantastic jail cell element on the rear of the vehicle, and once laid down to horizontal mode, it’s completely hidden, removing any hopes for prisoners to be rescued!
There’s a sticker sheet included in the set, which really brings the machine of doom to life. Flame stickers on the wheel rims and just above the frontal cowcatcher, tie everything up nicely, and is sure to terrify anything or anyone in the vehicle’s path!
You get 3 mini-figures included in the set; Clay (complete with armour), General Magmar (complete with cape and armour) and Flama (complete with flaming helmet and sword accessories). You also get the book of destruction and 3 Nexo power shields; Storm Dragon, Giant Growth & Dynamighty – all of which work with the Morlock 2.0 app (available FREE on the App Store).
At just £34.99, there is incredible value for money – it doesn’t feel like a typical set from this price point, and once built, feels so much larger than the sum of its parts. Highly recommended!
