As a father of 2 kids, and having been a huge fan of LEGO for as long as I can remember, it was always on my agenda to get them into it – something that didn’t take much convincing at all! With my youngest (Jacob) being nearly 4-years old, I was keen to find a good crossover set to move him from Duplo to LEGO, and LEGO Juniors fits that gap perfectly!

It just so happens that he is also a huge fan of all things Disney and Pixar, and with the release of the new LEGO Juniors Cars 3 sets, it would be an understatement to say he was over the moon when he found out we were getting some!

We kick off with the Willy’s Butte Speed Training set [10742], which includes Lightning McQueen and Sheriff cars as well as a ramp with breakable barriers, a radiator springs spinning sign, and a trailer with counter and tow bar, which attaches onto Sheriff.

The build time was around 25 minutes, and the kids particularly enjoyed putting the cars together. The trickiest bit, but also one of the most satisfying to put together, was the trailer with the speed sign and camera accessory.

Once built, there’s loads of fun to be had with the playability options. The curved base of the Radiator Springs sign allows you to use it to force the car into a sideways wheelie, before attempting to crash through the ramped barrier. There are neat little accessories, too, like the orange traffic cone and the green shrub, which you can use as obstacles in your path.

Whilst there are other smaller sets in the LEGO Juniors Cars 3 range, this was a perfect introductory set to the range and we’re already earmarking a number of the others!
