SPECTRE, the latest James Bond film was released on 6th November 2015, and now you can recreate your own 007 car chases with the Scalextric James Bond SPECTRE Set. The highly anticipated Bond sequel set a new opening night record taking £6.3 million.
The set includes the sleek Aston Martin DB10 and Jaguar C-X75, as featured in the film, with a high performance figure-of-eight track – leap ramps, side swipes, a 90 degree crossover and a bordered 180 degree curve will result in some epic chases!
Like Hornby, Meccano, LEGO, Corgi and Subbuteo, Scalextric is a classic, cherished toy brand that has been around for many years, and continues to provide fresh and exciting output for customers worldwide. Their latest set merges the world of Scalextric with the James Bond franchise, and in doing so has created the ultimate collectors set.
ToysWorld got our hands on the SPECTRE set just before Christmas, and managed to put together a short product spotlight video (which you can see beneath the main review). We were inundated with emails from visitors asking how on earth we got it as its so hard to find. It became clear, very quickly, that this was going to be one of the hot toys for Christmas 2015. Roll forward to February 2016 and we continue to get requests from our visitors wanting to know where they can buy it, as demand still seems to be high.
Included with the set are the two signature cars featured in SPECTRE; The Aston Martin DB10 and the Jaguar C-X75. Both cars are 1:32 scale and are gloriously reproduced in painstaking detail right down to the exact paint finish. Front and rear lights feature and light up once powered on the track, and there’s also a ramp if you’re feeling particularly daring. In the video you’ll see our DB10 launch off the ramp and land perfectly – this took about 12 attempts, but the finished stunt looked fantastic!
In addition to the cars, you get the skewed figure 8 track and barrier accessories, as well as the power supply unit and the hand controllers. There’s everything you need to recreate that heart-stopping car chase featured in the movie, and even putting the high entertainment value aside, the set just looks so classy. The whole package smacks of luxury, and if you can’t afford the life-size counterpart, make sure you at least invest in the small scale version. It won’t even cost you at the pump! 🙂
