Take great selfies and pictures of your friends with this all new dual lens Kidizoom camera! The two lenses can be swapped between at the touch of a button, making photo taking of any occasion effortless. Add fun distortion effects, stamps and frames, or use the auto-portrait feature to take photos automatically. You can also film movies, adding animations along the way. Record your voice and add funny effects to it!
Other great features include 4x digital zoom, You and Me photo effects, 5 great games, Wacky Photo Shaker, photo editor and Silly Face Detector. All of this is easily seen on the large 2.4 inch colour screen.
You know the score… you’re out taking a picture with your (child-not-so-friendly) camera, and all of a sudden you hear those terrifying words; “Please can I take a picture with your camera?”. As you nervously respond with an affectionate name to cushion the inevitable “No”, it leaves many parents wondering what the best child-friendly cameras are on the market, and with so many to choose from, ToysWorld believe we’ve found the best one!
Enter the Kidizoom Duo by VTech! This is a camera that kids will simply love; not only does it take pictures, but it allows you to take videos, too, and even add some fun filters and effects to the media you take – all from the device itself! There’s a fantastic, large 2.4 inch colour screen that displays your images, and there are easy to use buttons for you to easily show images and videos or delete them.
As the name suggests, there are actually 2 lenses in the camera; front and back, allowing you to take photos traditionally, whilst adding a front facing camera for those all-important selfies.
Image quality for the photos is 2.0 megapixels and turn out surprisingly well, based on past experience with kid related cameras.
There’s a 4X zoom, which feels a tiny bit clunky in execution, but with the fact it’s aimed at kids, this doesn’t really matter and the final zoomed images you take turn out a lot better than what the preview window shows. You also get a flash, which you can set to auto or always-on.
Kidizoom Duo also comes pre-loaded with 5 cool games that your kids can play;
– Busy Traffic; A driving game that uses the camera’s in-built motion controls.
– Save The Fish; A maze-type game where you guide a fish around using the motion controls.
– Basketball Fun; Shoot as many hoops as you can within the time limit,
using the motion controls.
– Crazy Cafe; Catch the falling food on your plate using the camera joypad.
– Bounce Around; A fun take on the popular ‘Breakout’ game.
The device takes 4 x AA batteries (included) and can be connected to a computer via a USB port at the bottom of the camera, and there’s also a slot to add a Micro SD memory card, as there’s no storage card provided out of the box. That being said, you do get enough on-board memory to take at least 100 images.
Overall, we were very impressed with the Kidizoom Duo. It’s a perfect entry level camera for kids that does so much more than a typical point and shoot, and for the reasonable £52.99 RRP, it’s definitely worth the investment (whilst saving your own camera in the process)!
